Introduction

The Chicago Cubs won the 2016 World Series. The World series is a best to seven game series. The Chicago Cubs since then have not made the world series in 106 years, longest ever. The Cubs became a feel good story of that year and a lot of people rooted for them. The biggest fan though was my dad. My father was born and raised in Chicago and has been a die hard fan ever since. As you can imagine he was thrilled to have witnessed this magical Chicago Cubs run in 2016.

Interview 

TJE– When the Cubs made the playoffs in 2016 did you think they had a chance? 

TE– Yeah I did think the Cubs had a chance, I felt really good about them They had the best record in baseball, I felt the best about them making the world series than any other year I’ve been a cub fan which dates back to 1970s, they have made the playoffs a few other times but besides 1984 when I thought they had a really good chance this was the best i’ve felt about them making the world series since i’ve been a cubs fan

TJE– What were you doing during the world series? 

TE– I watched the world series both at home ( Jersey) and traveled to Chicago to watch the world series. I went to game 4 and went back to my old neighborhood in wrigleyville with my son and my wife and a bunched of friends from chicago and we watched the other 2 games at bars, that we have gone to and watched games previously when I lived there in the 90s 

TJE– What was the atmosphere like when you were at one of the games in chicago? 

TE– The atmosphere was by far the funnest game and funnest atmosphere i’ve ever been around. The Cubs fans packed all of Wrigleyville,  the stadium was electric, people were so excited and happy to be at a World Series game. The cubs ended up losing that game, so the atmosphere progressed but i’ve never been at a game more electric.

TJE– Where did you watch the game & and what were your emotions when the cubs finally won?  

TE– I watched game 7 at my brothers house here in New Jersey, I was with my entire family, my brothers entire family and my other brothers entire family. We all watched it together, myself and my 2 brothers have been lifelong Cubs fans, seeing the cubs get out to a lead, have the game tied up with only an inning to go and ultimately having the cubs pull out the win we were so happy. Me and my brothers hugged and even cried a little bit and overall we were just thrilled to watch it together and see the Cubs finally win after all these years

In 2016 The Cleveland Cavaliers actually made the NBA finals and they were down 3-1 in the series just like the Cubs. The Cavaliers ended up winning the series and for the first time ever the Cavaliers finally won a NBA finals which is something they have never done before.

 In 2016 the Villanova Wildcats had a magical run to the NCAA Championship. They had to defeat the North Carolina Tar Heels to win, they were very good that year. The Wildcats and Tar Heels game came down to the wire. The Wildcats haven’t won since 1985 so this was just like the cubs. The Wildcats hit a game winning shot to win the NCAA championship which goes down as one of the greatest shots in basketball history. https://mashable.com/article/2016-sports-moments
